Moderate Fast Vs Fast Action Rod

Moderate action rods flex more near the middle of the blank.
Moderate fast vs fast action rod. I use most all baits but probably use soft plastics such as worms and lizards the most. A fast action rod will bend in only the top third or less of the blank a medium or moderate action will bend in the top half or so and a slow action will bend starting in the lower third of the rod. Fast action bends in the top 20 30 of the rod and it is the most common action rating. Medium or moderate initially in the upper 1 2 and slow initially along their full length.
Medium and moderate mean the same thing. Fast action fly rods. The moderate fast action is an advantageous choice for presenting moving baits but when spooling up with 40 or 50 pound braided line the moderate fast action can become suitable for casting plastics and jigs. Because of the additional rod flex energy distribution and forgiveness this is one of the most versatile bass rods you can own.
I recommend fast action for all beginners. Typically made from graphite or a boron graphite mix. Extra fast action rods offer a high degree of tip sensitivity and offer faster power during hook set. Sometimes slow action rods are termed parabolic meaning the bend of the rod is similar throughout the length.
Fast action is popular because it provides sensitivity for monitoring bites and can quickly load up for hook setting. While it can be used in a variety of fishing situations it is most popular with single hooks applications like. I am looking at a fenwick hmg 7 medium heavy rod with a moderate fast action. I originally wanted a fast action but fenwick did not have one in that model.
Action is where a blank initially flexes. Moderate action bends at the 30 40 mark and slow action bends at 50 or below. Slower action rods flex down into the butt section. Regardless of a rod s length or line rating it can flex near the tip towards in its middle or throughout their entire length.
Fast action blanks initially flex in their upper 1 3rd.
